Blu-ray Ripper is a software program that can copy the content from a Blu-ray disc to a hard drive. It converts the movie to MP4, AVI, MKV, RMVB, etc. This article will make a simple review of several Blu-ray ripper software (including free and paid).
Applications (in no particular order)
AnyDVD HD – The most famous Blu-ray Ripper software. It has a very strongest decryption function and supports both Blu-ray and HD DVD very well.
Leawo Blu-ray Ripper – Developed by Moyea Software. It rips Blu-ray and DVD discs to a range of common audio and video formats for any device, such as computers, smartphones, tablets and gaming consoles. And its built-in decryption tools can remove AACS and CSS protection automatically during the ripping process.
Xilisoft Blu-ray Ripper – Xilisoft, a veteran multimedia software company. Its software should have a good quality. The main functions are same as Leawo, to convert Blu-ray and DVD to common video formats.
Pavtube BDMagic – The main functions are the same as above.
MakeMKV – This is a powerful format converter. It converts the video clips from proprietary (and usually encrypted) disc into a set of MKV files, preserving most information but not changing it in any way. And the program is time-limited, it will stop functioning after 60 days. But you can always download the latest version that will reset the expiration date.
HandBrake – Famous open source Blu-ray Ripper software. It can handle any Blu-ray or DVD sources that do not contain any kind of copy protection and output MP4 or MKV.
Pavtube ByteCopy – Same as MakeMKV, but supports for more output format.
